Meditation: Rev. Teresa Bailey
Continue reading When they go low, we go highMeditationMeditation is an integral part of our beliefs and philosophy. It is through meditation that we connect with our Divine Self, our True State of Being. We encourage you to start your day with a meditation, before you do anything else so as to not let your mind get invaded by thoughts and concerns.
If you are new to meditation or if you feel that you cannot meditate because thoughts enter your mind, you are not alone. It takes practice and even the most experienced will admit that they too have to work at it. As you enter meditation, focus on one point: it could be your breathing, it could be an image, it could be a point of light – one that you physically see or a point of light in your mind’s eye. It could also be a mantra. If you choose a mantra, it doesn’t have to be a complicated manta. It could be “God,” “Peace,” “Perfect Peace,” “I am Light,” “I am Peace,” or “Be still.” Sit down, quiet your mind, focus on a point, and meditate. Start with a few minutes, and then gradually increase the duration.
We offer a variety of meditations each week on Zoom. Visit the Classes page of our website for our current schedule, or for information on how to participate. As always you can contact us at info@washingtonmetaphysical.org if you have any questions.
If you are unable to join us, here are a few samples by our ministers, which you can also find on our YouTube Channel.
Our friends at The Meditation Center in Sylva, NC also offer a selection of recorded meditations. Click here to explore more.
