Acts
Luke is generally recognized as the author of Acts, or more formally, the Acts of the Apostles. Both the Gospel of Luke and Acts contain similar dedications (shown in the opening verses). The opening verse of Acts also makes mention of “the first book” (or “former treatise”) – and this evidently refers to the Gospel of Luke. Many similarities, both of style and technical phrases used, will also be noted. The metaphysical meaning of the name Luke is: “luminous; light-giving; enlightening; instructing.”
